Lori Williams - Massage Therapist/Body Mechanic

Lori provides therapeutic massage grounded in caring, compassion, and giving back. She has the right "hardware" as a body mechanic - her father's hands, which are strong, muscular, and wide. She follows the lead of her clients by listening to them and providing space to be silent when that’s what they’d like to be.

Lori specializes in phasing massage and also offers clinical, Swedish, and sports options customized to her clients needs. While capable of “going deep”, she taps into what is called for, providing a safe environment for the muscles to trust and let go.

Phasing massage combines traditional massage with specific techniques to quickly reduce and relieve tension hotspots by zeroing in on the tendons at the points where they attach to bones, helping them to relax and lengthen. This deep and focused massage stimulates blood flow to these very tight, tense areas which signals the brain to send healing. Common areas of complaint addressed by phasing massage include neck, shoulders, legs (quads and hamstrings), gluts, ankles, feet, elbows and wrists. This particular modality enhances range of motion which diminishes with injury and age. By increasing blood flow to the tendons themselves, range of motion comes back with a burst of endorphins sent to the area stimulated. This body re-calibration is critical for sports enthusiasts in maintaining peak performance capabilities.

During the phasing portion of the 75-minute session, you will have ongoing dialogue with Lori, working together to identify and release your hotspots of tension. As the tendons release, Lori goes on to traditional, relaxing massage, thus addressing muscles as well as tendons. An additional benefit of phasing massage is the release of emotions, which, when tightly held, can contribute to tightness in tendons. Phasing massage is particularly helpful for very active people who want to turn the clock back on aging.

Lori receives phasing massage herself and says about it: “Phasing has enabled me to keep playing competitive single tennis and to stay very active overall. I’m not saying it’s for everyone, but personally I’ve been very happy with the results. I expect a lot of my body, and I reward it with yoga and bodywork.”
