Nutrition/Wellness Counseling

Nutrition/Wellness Counseling is a naturopathic approach that focuses on the use of natural, whole foods to detoxify, rebuild, and balance the body. The integration of dietary choices into the wellness model is it’s primary goal. As such, organic foods, whole foods, or raw foods may be suggested.  Also, specific suggestions on food preparation and preservation may be provided.  In general, an avoidance of synthetic chemicals, artificial preservatives, excess sugars include common recommendations.

However, Nutrition/Wellness Counseling is not just about diets. It is concerned with all aspects of a person's health, including physical, psychological, social, and cultural factors. It addresses digestion, balance, and moderation for each individual. Therefore, meditation, exercise and removal of certain toxins from an individual’s lifestyle may be suggested as part of a wellness plan. Holistic nutritionists attempt to treat the whole individual with diet and exercise rather particular symptoms as with modern medicine. Holistic practitioners attempt to help people use their body’s wisdom rather than, or in combination with, modern medicine for self-healing. Medical studies have shown that by making proper food choices people can prevent many health problems that can include heart disease, obesity, cancer, and diabetes. A modern medical practitioner and a holistic practitioner can work together to benefit your health with the use of holistic nutrition.

This service provides information about achieving optimal health with a focus on the therapeutic uses of nutrition.
