Yoga Practice Guidelines
Yoga is for everyone. At Green Lotus there IS a class for you! We ask you to observe the following guidelines when attending classes.
- Apparel: Wear comfortable, fitted, stretchy clothing, and bare feet.
- Hygiene: Be clean. Wash your body, apparel, towel, and mat regularly. Please refrain from wearing heavy perfume, fragrance, or cologne to class.
- Punctuality: Please be on time. Arriving 10 minutes early to class gives you the opportunity to sign in, meditate/stretch, and prepare for class. If you arrive late, please pause, take a deep breath, and enter quietly.
- Eating and drinking: We recommend that you refrain from eating 1 to 3 hours before class begins, depending on your metabolism (but also do not come ravenous). Water is your best friend after class, and sometimes drinking too much before or during can cause discomfort.
- Ambience: Please enter/exit and speak quietly in the studios. Turn off cell phones (and please do not use them in the studios at any time.) If you must leave early, do a 3- to 5-minute savasana (final relaxation pose) and the leave quietly.
- Yoga props: You may borrow a studio mat for your first class. There is a $1 fee to rent one after that. Purchase your own mat as soon as possible for hygiene reasons. Always spray and wipe your own mat or a rental mat after each use. When using studio props, please fold and stack blankets neatly, roll straps, and return blocks to their appropriate shelves, which are clearly marked. Please bring a towel for our heated classes.
- Injuries: Please tell your teacher about any injuries or pregnancy before class begins.
- Mindfulness: Be kind and loving to yourself and listen to your body. Practice to your own limits.
We thank you for honoring these guidelines and for showing patience to whose who are still learning them.
