A student of yoga since 1993, Phil’s study of  vinyasa, pranayama, and yoga philosophy led him to become a certified yoga teacher in 2002.  Yoga quickly became the perfect compliment to his love of running.

As a Yoga Alliance Certified Teacher (RYT-200), Phil says he has been privileged to witness transformation on the faces and in the lives and bodies of students during a single class and over dedicated practice.  Phil says, “Whatever brings you to your mat, yoga deepens your relationship to your body, opens space for recognizing your truths and expands your ability to embrace life.” Phil's teaching philosophy is that you should leave his class with a renewed spirit and energy. He encourages students to go a little deeper and explore their practice in hopes of creating a better understanding of themselves and how they can adapt to new or deeper postures through their breath and intention. He uses anatomy, breath awareness, and music to deepen a student’s practice and find inner balance.  Phil believes in organic mixes of yoga, combining different yoga styles and different disciplines of physical movement to create a beautiful yoga practice. 

His classes incorporate dynamic flowing sequences to create inner heat along with held postures to facilitate alignment. He brings a calm presence and uplifting style to encourage each student to explore him or herself more fully on all levels.
