In 1999, I began practicing yoga to find relief from stress and
migraine headaches. I discovered that yoga was about much more than just building strength and flexibility. What keeps me coming back to the mat is the knowledge that yoga is a lifestyle rather than a form of
exercise. It has allowed me to strive to achieve balance and peace of
mind, as well as working toward the discovery of my true self.
While on leave of absence from my elementary teaching position, I
decided to pursue a yoga teacher training program. Having been a teacher
in many capacities for the duration of my adult life, it seemed only
natural to fuse my love of yoga with my passion for teaching. With 15
years of teaching experience and a master’s degree in education, I am
thrilled to have the opportunity to turn my attention to teaching yoga
to both children and adults. Being a mother to three young girls who
enjoy practicing yoga together helps me continue to learn something new
every day.
My primary influence along this path is Green Lotus Yoga and Healing Center’s own Gwen Linden-Bruzek, as well as Max Strom, Natasha Rizopoulos, Daren Friesen, John Friend, and many others. I am looking forward to continuing my yogic journey both on and off the mat for many more years!
