Green Lotus

YA-Certified 15-Hour Yin Continuing Education Teacher Training

&

Advanced Yoga Studies

Yin Yoga focuses on deep tissues, energy body, and mind/body connection.  This ancient form provides balance to the more muscular, active, and athletic (yang) forms of yoga so in demand today, particularly in the West. The body's well-being requires at least as much "muscle release" as "muscle engagement" for ultimate flexibility and strength.  Yin Yoga is an intensely deep form of yoga and requires specialized study to teach it or to deepen your personal Yin practice.

Yin Training at Green Lotus is designed specifically for two audiences:

  • Yoga teachers who have completed RYT-200 training and are seeking to teach Yin Yoga and/or to earn continuing education credits with Yoga Alliance. Upon successful completion of Green Lotus' Yin Training, teachers will have earned 12 contact hours and 3 non-contact hours that can be applied to continuing education requirements as established by Yoga Alliance and be prepared to begin teaching or assisting in teaching Yin Yoga.
  • Yoga students who want to advance and deepen their personal Yin Yoga practices or become familiar with this particular style of yoga physically and energetically.

A Unique Approach to Yin Training

Our 15-hour Yin Yoga teacher training and advanced studies program allows students to delve deeply into the practice during one intensive weekend.  The cornerstone of the Green Lotus approach is to study the practice not only by reading and engaging lecture but also by participating in multiple practices so that principles of anatomy, Chinese medicine, and philosophy can be felt in students' own bodies and minds. Students also will have ample opportunities to practice teach in small groups or to the class as a whole.

Another hallmark of our training is the faculty, which includes experienced yoga teachers and a acupuncturist to bring first-hand knowledge of Chinese medicine and energy systems to our classroom.  Faculty members include:

  • Jill Carey, Yin training leader: Jill completed Level 1 Teacher Training with Baron Baptiste, received her 200-hour-level Registered Yoga Teacher Certification (RYT) with TeriLeigh Schmidt, completed an intensive 35-hour Yoga Anatomy, Yin Yoga: Practice & Theory Teacher Training with Paul Grilley and has completed a Taoist (Yin & Yang) Teacher Training program with founder of Yin Yoga, Paulie Zink.
  • Erica Dolan, Green Lotus acupuncturist: Erica is a Licensed Acupuncturist (L.Ac) by the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice and is board certified by National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. She graduated cum laude with a Master of Acupuncture degree from Northwestern Health Sciences University. She will provide first-hand knowledge of the body's subtle energy systems.
  • Candy Bell, director of Green Lotus' training programs: Candy, who has been teaching yoga for 10 years, received her RYT training at Sun Moon Yoga Studios in Mankato, where she later taught yoga and yoga teacher training, and her E-RYT certification from Yoga Alliance. Training with Judith Lasater (Restorative Yoga), Shiva Rea  (Asana Flow), and Elise Miller (Breath Work) have rounded out her advanced learnings.
