Faculty
- Keri Mangis (E-RYT) is leading this program for the second year. Her training began with a 200-hour certificate from the Yoga Center of Minneapolis study and training with Maryann Parker, Edina, and she has energetically continued training with many teachers - adding a Yin/Yang Yoga certificate from Sarah Powers, advanced yoga study with Rod Stryker, Judith Lasater, and others. This year, she completed a 2-year advanced teacher training program with Tara Sherman in hatha yoga, tantra, meditation, pranayama, and yoga nidra.
- Gwen Linden-Bruzek - Yoga kept Gwen grounded and at peace during ten years of traveling, "Gypsy-style", with her husband. When her performing career came to a close, Yoga was the natural path to take. Gwen has been studying Yoga for 16 years. She was certified at White Lotus Foundation in 2002 and has taught all over the metro area ever since. She also holds a certification from the National Academy of Sports Medicine. Lately, her yoga path has drawn her more down the avenues of meditation and chant...much thanks to Keri and Tara!
- Tara (Cindy) Sherman -
Tara began her study of meditation and yoga over 15 years ago. Since that time, both practices have been a source of strength and healing in her life.
She has taught yoga full-time for 10 years and draws inspiration from her certification trainings: Ananda, Kripalu, Atma, and Doug Swenson. She also cherishes her personal practice and the many gifted instructors she has experienced over the years. Tara will be joining our group for the second year.
- Marcia Appel has been practicing and studying yoga for more than 8 years. Yoga deepens her connections to herself, to others, and to the world around her. She received her Level 1 teaching certificate from Baron Baptiste and soon will complete Green Lotus' 200-hour RYT program. Her study also includes work with Janice Gates (founder of The Yoga Garden), Anna Cushman (contributing editor of Tricycle and Yoga Journal), and Ana Forrest.
We are pleased to welcome Marcia on board for her first year assisting in this program.

Makeup Policy
We understand that nearly everyone may have a situation where they need to miss a workshop, due to vacation, illness, or an unforeseen event. As often as possible, please let Keri know about these dates ahead of time. Contact hours (of which 180 are required) cannot be made up in any other way than with a primary teacher. You may make up these hours by scheduling a private session with the lead teacher at her hourly rate, or simply taking the missed session the following year.

Completion Policy
This program is slated to be completed in 12 months. However, you may take up to three (3) years to complete the required 180 contact hours, if need be. This makes this program flexible in that those who want to complete in 12 months may, and others may find that longer is a more appropriate timing for them. As long as the required contact hours are met in each category (technique, philosophy, teaching methodology, etc.) the program is complete.

Testimonials
"Green Lotus Teacher Training Program offers much more than the mechanics of teaching yoga. It is very much about the business of living abundantly and mindfully. The content is rich, practical, and thorough. My own practice has grown deeper and I am excited about my abilities to share this wonderful information with others. The teachers were very encouraging and inspirational. I appreciate all the time and effort they put into helping us understand yoga as a whole, not just asana." 2008 participant
"Even if I decide to not pursue teaching yoga, the teacher training program at Green Lotus would still be worth the time and money spent. In fact, to just call it "teacher training" is a bit of an injustice. This program also encourages you to live and experience life in a unique way while taking your personal yoga practice to new levels. The teachers and fellow trainees offer valuable insight and support as you continue on your own journey of truth and spirit. I highly recommend it!" 2008 participant
"I've really enjoyed taking my practice to a much deeper level. I think the teachers are knowledgeable and capable. I enjoy having the opportunity to learn and grow with people from different backgrounds and experiences, but who have a love of yoga in common." 2008 participant
Additional information
- The training will include at-home reading and homework (see Book List);
- The training may include community service – bringing the yoga to people who may not otherwise experience it.
At Green Lotus, it is our mission to train teachers in a way that honors who they are, their background, and to honor the 5000-year-old tradition of yoga. All genuine paths will be honored and supported as we ground and grow together. At the end of this program, you will be able to apply to the Yoga Alliance and receive your 200 hour RYT (Registered Yoga Teacher) certification. If you then choose to teach for Green Lotus, you will be given an environment in which to continually grow and learn and explore the vastness of yoga. However, completion of this program does not guarantee a position with Green Lotus Yoga and Healing Center.
If you have any additional questions, please contact Keri Mangis at kmangis@greenlotusyogactr.com or call 612-599-9668.
