Private Yoga Instruction
Greta’s personal yoga practice spans almost 25 years. Initially she turned to yoga as a way to recover from sports injuries. It finally occurred to her to shift her focus from the activities that were wearing on her body toward the healing power of yoga. Greta has a degree in psychology, coached collegiate rowing, and has written and taught creative curriculum content at area schools. Her teaching style is truly a culmination of all of these things. With an emphasis on listening to your own body’s cues, Greta guides class with a lighthearted tone. She often says: “If I look around the room and it looks like synchronized yoga, I feel I am not doing my job. My role is to guide your choices toward safe and intuitive movement and to help you feel confident enough to make those choices.” She is particularly pleased to be teaching the senior fitness chair-based yoga class at Green Lotus, as her passion lies in bringing yoga to a variety of populations. This includes her wide range of teaching with Alzheimer’s patients, high school athletes, task-specific ergonomic classes in the workplace, and homeless mothers and children in a shelter environment. Her RYT200-hour training is enhanced with additional studies in Trauma-Informed Yoga Practice. Outside of yoga Greta enjoys road trips with her three teenagers who are the brightest lights in her life.
