Yoga Corner: Kali Mudra to Ignite Inner Strength
/…and to Clear Inner Negativity
As the days grow shorter and energy turns inward, Kali Mudra offers a powerful way to clear stagnation and reconnect with inner strength. This transformative hand gesture helps dissolve negativity and chaos in both daily life and the wider world.
Named for Kali, the fierce goddess of transformation and courage, this mudra supports releasing what no longer serves you, creating space for renewal and empowerment.
To Practice:
Interlace your fingers and extend your index fingers, crossing the left thumb over the right, to symbolize balance and the power to cut through illusion. Hold your hands a few inches from your heart or at your solar plexus. Breathe consciously through your nose, visualizing a fire of clarity dissolving tension and fear.
Practice for a few mindful moments each day - during meditation or anytime you feel overwhelmed. Because this mudra is a strong and activating, avoid holding it for too long. You may wish to include an affirmation suc as, "I am letting go of all the negativities within me and around me."
Benefits:
Clears negativity and emotional heaviness
Supports relief from stress, anxiety, and depression
Promotes detoxification and energy flow
May ease insomnia and mental restlessness
Use Kali Mudra when you feel stuck, overwhelmed, or ready to release old patterns. Especially potent in November, this practice helps channel courage, positivity, and fierce compassion - Kali's gifts to you.
