"It's simple to me," Marcia says.  "I believe yoga changes the world one person at a time."

Marcia began her career as a journalist and writer. Over the years she became an award-winning editor and writer and held executive management positions at Control Data, Musicland, American Girl, Minnesota Public Radio, and American Public Media Group. She is married and has a wonderful son, daughter, and daughter-in-law.

In 2000 she began to practice yoga to ease her grief when her father was diagnosed with cancer and to alleviate the effects of hip pain and neuralgia. She still thanks an open-minded physician at Mayo Clinic for encouraging her to try yoga. That advice supported Marcia’s journey into a practice that delivers well-being, hope, and joy.  As her body grew stronger and more flexible, Marcia’s mind settled down, and she found stillness and peace as she deepened her study and practice to include meditation.

In 2005, Marcia co-founded The Yoga Path in Lakeville.  As a teacher there, she met her Green Lotus partner and co-founder Christie Singleton.  As their bond strengthened, the women planted the seed of service that has become the foundation of the Green Lotus philosophy. "As teachers and healers," she says, "We meet students and clients where they are. We learn and grow from each other -- and have fun doing it!"

Marcia completed The Yoga Path's 14-week yoga training in 2006, when she began teaching regular classes, restorative workshops, and meditation.  In October 2006 she completed Journey into Power Level 1 Teacher Training with Baron Baptiste, a powerful form of vinyasa flow.  She has studied with Janice Gates, Anne Cushman, Ana Forrest, and Judith Lasater, and has attended silent mediation retreats at Spirit Rock in California, The Dwelling in Northern Minnesota, and The Mediatation Center in Minneapolis. In 2008 Marcia completed the RYT 200-hour teacher training at Green Lotus, which is recognized by Yoga Alliance, and earned the EYRT 200 designation in 2011.

She currently is participating in an 18-month training program at Spirit Rock to explore the integration of meditation and yoga with teachers Phillip Moffitt, Mark Coleman, Anna Douglas, Janice Gates, Anne Cushman, and Chip Hartranft.
