Amy Dirksen

Yoga Teacher, Teacher Training Faculty Member, and Provider of Body-Mind Therapy (Yoga Therapy)

Dawn (she/her) believes deeply in the power of joy - and yoga has been one of her greatest teachers. She began practicing more than 30 years ago at Saint Olaf College, back when yoga couldn’t even be called yoga on campus. How times have changed. She later earned her 200‑hour and first 500‑hour certifications at Green Lotus.

A licensed MS educator, Dawn holds certifications in Yoga Therapy, Functional Yoga Therapy, Sound Healing, Reiki, Mindfulness for Schools, and LifeForce Yoga for Anxiety, Depression, and Trauma.

She lives by the mantra lokah samastah sukhino bhavantu - “May all beings be happy and free, and may the thoughts, words, and actions of my own life contribute in some way.”

At Green Lotus, Dawn teaches yoga history, philosophy, and pranayama in the 240‑hour teacher training program.

Dawn also brings yoga-based tools to children and families with special needs. As an early‑childhood educator, she earned her Yoga Calm certification to teach mindfulness and mindful movement to both kids and teachers. Yoga is a family affair for her as well—her loved ones often practice together. She co‑published Journal of an ADHD Kid: The Good, the Bad and the Useful with her son, Tobias, and the two of them lead workshops based on the book.

Dawn takes her yoga everywhere. She even teaches yoga on stand‑up paddleboards, blending playfulness, presence, and the joy she believes in so wholeheartedly.
